Ebook About Special Agent James Hosty began investigating Lee Harvey Oswald in October 1963, a full month before the JFK assassination. From November 22 on, Hosty watched as everyone from the Dallas Police, the FBI, the CIA, Naval Intelligence, and the State Department up through the Warren Commission to J. Edgar Hoover, Robert Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson reacted to and manipulated the facts of the president’s assassination—until Hosty himself became their scapegoat. After seeing his name appear in three inconclusive federal investigations and countless fact-twisting conspiracy theories (including Oliver Stone’s motion picture), Hosty decided to tell his own story.Assignment: Oswald is the authoritative insider’s account of one of our country’s most traumatic events. Combining his own unique, intimate knowledge of the case with previously unavailable government documents—including top secret CIA files recently released from the National Archives—Hosty tells the true story behind the assassination and the government’s response to it, including the suppression of a documented Oswald-Soviet-Castro connection. Hosty offers an exclusive insider’s knowledge of the mechanisms, the power structures, and the rivalries in and among the various intelligence and law enforcement agencies and why they have determined who knows what about the assassination. Here, at last, is an unmistakably expert and responsible account of the murder of President Kennedy.Book Assignment: Oswald Review :
James Hosty, a man of high morals, raked over by his superiors and others who in trying to save their own behinds lied, has given his account here. Perhaps this is not a dramatic screenplay it's a testimony of the man's experiences before and after the dark deed of 11/22/63.....and if anyone has the right it is James Hosty. An FBI agent who followed his superiors orders to the letter. See how the handing off of cases between cities and agents (they worked between 30 and 60 at any given time) was routine and somewhat low key. Hosty was directed to destroy the document in question and then thrown under the bus repeatedly by his bosses and the press who lied, and then said nothing in order to keep his position and retirement (he had NINE children BTW) He had the right to speak out and I believe him. Kindle Edition: 1 out of 5 stars. It has been horribly translated to electronic. Do yourself the favor and buy either a hard or soft cover version.Book Review: If you have a semi unhealthy fascination with the Kennedy assassination, then this is the book for you. The book is told from a first person narrative of Special Agent James Hosty who had an open case on Oswald for Communist Espionage during the time of assassination. Agent Hosty takes the reader through his journey starting the morning of 22 November, the assassination, ensuing days, months and years of investigation. He offers an in depth character study of Oswald and his wife including some post assassination and previously suppressed information by the FBI.The second part of the story gets more personnel. History has been quite unkind to Hosty since he had an open case on Oswald at the time of assassination. The world believes that he should have known Oswald was a threat, but all evidence on him at that time pointed to pure and simple espionage. The FBI under the leadership from J. Edgar Hoover was looking to cover his tracks and erase any and all public embarrassment. That meant sacrifice innocent people who got sucked into the fray like Hosty who ended up being transferred to Kansas City (aka FBI Siberia), spending countless hours over pointless testimony and maligned by newspapers in Dallas for years. This book is his voice and his final word on the matter without being muzzled for filtered by the FBI.
